Gang jailed after £250k hammer raid in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter

Five members of a gang who attacked a jewellery shop worker with a hammer and made off with £250,000 worth of property have been handed jail sentences.
CCTV footage released by West Midlands Police captured the incident which took place at SP Green in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter on January 6 last year…..

Investigation into cash-in-transit robbery in Dublin

An investigation is under way into a robbery in Dublin, in which a cash-in-transit security guard was forced to hand over a cash box. The security guard was making a cash delivery to a bank in Raheny Village just after midday when he was approached by a man armed with what was described as a hammer.

6 Sought in California Distraction Theft

Glendale, Calif.–Police are looking for six suspects wanted for their roles in allegedly carrying out a distraction theft at a California jewelry store.
According to the Glendale Police Department, on June 14, two suspects approached the owner of Honolulu Jewelers as he was closing, asking to make a quick purchase. The owner agreed, allowing six people–five women and one man–to enter the store.
…..The Jewelers’ Security Alliance has identified the six as being members of the nomadic ethnic group Roma, also known as Gypsies, though President John Kennedy said they do not know at this time if this group is related to other thefts, in particular the surge in distraction thefts seen last fall. …..

Asian jewellery worth £600,000 stolen in Glasgow break-in spree

A significant rise in housebreaking incidents has seen more than £600,000 worth of Asian jewellery and cash stolen.
The high-value items were taken from homes in the Greater Glasgow police division.
Most of the 44 incidents reported since July this year happened in Newton Mearns and Robroyston.
Police Scotland officers believe the crimes are linked…..
