Cannes and Monaco jewelers on full robbery alert for Pink Pandas

French police are warning Cannes and Monaco jewelers that a gang of jewel thieves may strike during the upcoming 68th annual Cannes Film Festival.

The group, named The Pink Pandas by Scotland Yard, is made up of smartly dressed Chinese men who pretend they are wealthy tourists.

The gang’s modus operandi is that two or three of them stroll into a jewelery store and ask to be shown items which are on display in the window. They then select one, telling the shop assistant that they wish to offer it as a present and want it gift wrapped…..

Thai police use colonoscope to retrieve £180,000 diamond that Chinese thief had hidden up her bottom

A Chinese woman was forced to undergo a colonoscopy after she stole a £180,000 diamond and swallowed it.
Despite originally protesting her innocence, the woman, identified as 39-year-old Jiang Xulian, confessed to the theft after a scan revealed it to be lodged in her large intestine.
Doctors armed with a colonoscope and medical pliers carried out the delicate operation at a hospital in Nonthaburi on Sunday….

Japan INTERPOL Purple notice brings arrest of two international jewel thieves

TOKYO, Japan – As a result of the worldwide circulation of an INTERPOL Purple Notice, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested two Chinese suspects on 20 August at Narita Airport for stealing just months earlier a diamond ring valued at USD 170,000.
Footage from a Tokyo jeweller’s security camera enabled the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) for Japan to publish a Purple Notice illustrating to the 190 INTERPOL member countries how the suspects entered the shop in January and pocketed the diamond ring while diverting the vendor’s attention……

International arrest warrant sought for Gozo jewellery thieves

The four thieves who made off with a considerable amount of gold and silver stolen from Tresor D’Or in Palm Street, Victoria on August 26 left Malta a day later, the police said.
They said they have requested an international arrest warrant for the thieves to be held and sent to Malta to face criminal proceedings…..
