Two arrested following raid at Colchester jewellers

Two men have been arrested following a burglary at a Colchester jewellers in the early hours of Thursday morning (20 October).
Police were called to Ernest Jones in Shewall Walk, Culver Square, at around 2:45am on Thursday, 20 October, after reports that burglars had repeatedly struck display windows in a bid to break the reinforced glass and get to the store’s diamond displays……

Kim Kardashian’s robbers are reported to have made off with $10m (8.96m euros; £7.84m) worth of jewels, including a $4m dollar diamond ring. But how easy is it to sell on diamonds belonging to one of the world’s most famous people?
A stone worth several million euros is likely to have been laser marked, said Neil Duttson, a top diamond trader based in Hatton Garden, London.
The laser makes an invisible mark on the girdle – the side – of the stone, but it isn’t foolproof. “The mark can be polished off by someone who knows what they’re doing,” said Mr Duttson……

Some £16,000 worth of jewellery has been stolen from a jeweller in Suffolk after a man and woman entered the store and distracted staff.

Sledge hammer gang get away with thousands of pounds of stock in raid on Peterborough jewellers

Raiders used a sledge hammer to try and smash their way into a Peterborough city centre jewellers. The men struck at Fraser Hart in Queensgate early this morning (Thursday). Police hunt gang that smashed way into jewellery store at Intu Derby

Police are hunting for a gang of jewellery raiders who smashed their way into a store at Derby’s Intu centre in an early-morning raid.
Officers confirmed the thieves escaped with some jewellery from Ernest Jones, although some of these items were later recovered. It is thought the raiders smashed through glass doors in an underpass in Traffic Street during the incident…..
